How to Flatten Dented WearEver Bakewear

eHow
July 9, 2011

Aluminum bakeware is preferred by many chefs and cooks because of its ability to conduct heat and brown baked goods without burning. Aluminum bakeware comes in many weights. Unfortunately, lightweight pans tend to warp and dent over time. It is almost impossible to fully repair bent bakeware, but it is relatively inexpensive to replace with heavier, more durable pieces. Your warranty may also cover replacements. In any event, warped bakeware is still usable for some things, depending on the degree of damage.

Step 1
Check the warranty. You may be able to get a replacement. WearEver will repair or replace your bakeware if it becomes defective within the warranty period. The warranty is limited in that is does not cover damage due to misuse or overheating. Prevent damage by carefully reading the manufacturer’s instructions before using. Contact WearEver customer service at 1-800-527-7277.

Step 2
Try repairing the dents. This will negate your warranty, so try this only after you have contacted the company and they have deemed your repair uncovered by warranty. Heat the pan in the oven until warm, not piping hot. Place the warm pan on a flat surface and, using potholders, use pressure to flatten any dents. You may also try weighing the pan down evenly with bricks or other weights.

Step 3
Replace the bakeware with heavier pieces when all else fails. Compare weights in the store, and avoid the lightweight aluminum pans. Good, heavy bakeware will last for years without warping or dents.
